Private in-home
dog training
in Annapolis
Not every dog needs a three week program. Private lessons are one-on-one sessions with Zak, at your home or a convenient meet-out spot around Annapolis, focused on the specific things you want to fix. You will leave every lesson with clear homework and a dog that is already a little easier to live with.
Two ways to take lessons

In-home lessons
Zak comes to your house and works with you and your dog where the habits actually happen. Best for door manners, guest greetings, in-house rules, and any behavior that only shows up at home.

Meet-out lessons
Meet Zak at an agreed location around Annapolis. Best for leash skills, distraction work, and dogs that behave perfectly at home and fall apart everywhere else.
How much does dog training cost?
Here is the answer most trainers make you call for. One flat rate per lesson, no packages to commit to before we meet.
| Lesson | Where | Price |
|---|---|---|
| In-person lesson | Meet Zak at a location around Annapolis | $160 |
| In-home lesson | Zak comes to your house | $200 |
Each lesson runs about an hour at a flat rate for the option you choose. Online lessons over video are $120 (see online training). Most plans that take several sessions come together after Zak has met your dog and seen what is going on, so you book lessons as you go instead of committing to a package up front. For comparison, the immersive in-home Stay & Train program runs $2,750 to $3,250 and covers around 18 daily sessions.
What lessons cover
Obedience basics, leash manners, recall, jumping, door bolting, crate routines, and the everyday stuff that makes a dog easy or exhausting to live with. Lessons are also the right format for tune-ups after a program and for owners who want coaching on a single stubborn issue.
Puppy training in Annapolis
The best time to train a puppy is before the bad habits get rehearsed. Puppy lessons cover socialization done right, crate and potty routines, biting and chewing, name response, and the first obedience commands. They also set the rhythm a puppy’s day should run on: short bursts of learning, play, and time to settle, on repeat. A few early lessons prevent most of the problems that fill the rest of this website.
Some goals are bigger than a weekly hour
If your dog is reactive, aggressive, or anxious, or you want true off-leash reliability, the in-home Stay & Train program is the better tool and usually the better value. Plenty of clients book a single lesson first to meet Zak, then move up. That is a fine way to do it.
